Hispanic Handcrafted Jewelry from Latino Artisans
Hispanic Handmade Jewelry
Have you traveled lately to the mountains of the Andes? One vivid picture comes to my mind, artisans who gather to make their creations in their talleres or what we call here in the U.S., studios. If you have the pleasure to travel to countries like Mexico, Guatemala, Perú, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia and other Latin countries, take a day or so two visit the studios of the artisans bursting with creativity, making incredible works of art with silver, wood, rose quartz, leather, alpaca, gourd and many other native materials from the region.
The “conquistadores” came to America and found a wealth of silver, gold and other metals. They were also mesmerized by our semi-precious stones like aquamarine, topaz, quartz, and so forth. It doesn’t surprise anybody to see why our artisans are so skilled in the handling and creating of fine design using the abundant materials Latin American lands are rich in.
